Wind Tunnel Summer School visit to a Wind Farm

On the final day of the #WindTunnelSummerSchool held at NTUA, our participants had the opportunity to attend a day trip to a wind farm! The students observed operating wind turbines as well as wind turbines being installed.

The very first Wind Tunnel Summer School 2024 is concluded

We are delighted to have concluded the very first #WindTunnelSummerSchool 2024 on advanced Wind Tunnel Testing for Wind Energy and Urban Flows, held at National Technical University of Athens, Greece from 15-19 July.

Twin Tests 4 tests in NTUA Wind Tunnel

The first part of Twin Test 4 (TWT4) has been completed at NTUA. TU Delft kindly provided a robotic arm tomographic PIV system with a helium filled soap bubble generator to study the flow in an urban street canyon.

NTUA Wind Tunnel Technical Info Day

In the framework of the Horizon-Europe TWEET-IE project, a NTUA Wind Tunnel Technical Info Day, took place on the 26th of June at ANYM Building. The capacity for research and services was presented through presentations of past and present case studies.

Twin Test 2 tests in NTUA Wind Tunnel

The Twin Test 2 (TWT2) tests in NTUA Wind Tunnel were successfully concluded. The TWEET-IE project TWT2 tests focus on wake interactions of a cluster of turbines and wake steering techniques. By implementing various wake control strategies it is possible to significantly increase the energy production of a wind farm.

We are pleased to announce a Blind Test on modelling controlled and uncontrolled wind turbine wakes. Wind turbine wake modelling is crucial to optimizing future wind farm layouts and hence reducing the cost of energy.
